3 weeks old!

Cade actually turned 3 weeks old yesterday and we celebrated with Gammie by going to the zoo!

He is still eating every 3 hours. If I could get him to eat a little more during the day I think he could easily go 4 hours at night, but until he gets used to the extremely fast let down, I don't think that is going to happen! All that matters, though is that he had gained 10.5 oz at his weight check, which made me very happy!!! If he can gain that much in a week while nursing 10 minutes on each side MAX, then I guess I should be happy! I'm just used to his big brother who could have stayed on for hours and been happy. HA!

He is still sleeping very well. He had a few nights last week that he was awake for a couple of hours at night, but he hasn't done that since then. He is becoming more and more alert throughout the day and just looks all around. I'm pretty sure he smiled at me today. He was looking right at me while I was talking to him and  he gave me the sweetest grin. He was even going cross eyed, which meant he was trying to focus on me. He is starting to focus on a lot more now and will even look at the little toys I have hanging on his carseat.

I don't think I've mentioned it yet, but he does not like his carseat! Unless you are moving, that is. (That should make for an interesting trip to Florida!) He has finally taken a paci, although he isn't consistent with it. I'll be surprised if he becomes dependent on one, but it's nice to have it to help soothe him in the car.

We had a great time at the zoo. I was so excited to put them in their matching outfits! I knew I would have to nurse at least once while there, so I found what I thought would be a secluded bench. It was crazy packed with schools on field trips and they were all older kids (as in 12 to 13 year olds). I had my cover, so I wasn't too worried about it since I figured they wouldn't even see me anyway. Well, just as I started nursing these two geese and their six little ducks came waddling and hung out right in front of me, which automatically attracted every single 13 year old boy to that spot to harass them. I just knew I was going to give them more than they bargained for. For someone who is not that comfortable nursing in front of other people (besides friends and family.. and then you aren't as lucky.. HA!), I was WAY out of my comfort zone. Finally the duck family went about their business elsewhere and the crowds around me disappeared. Until another classroom teacher decided that would be the best spot for her to gather her class and talk about which reptile each child would be on the lookout for in the reptile aquarium. Which would have been fine, as they had their backs to me, but there was this one girl who kept coming over to watch me. Talk about uncomfortable!!

Waiting on the train with my two boys. I have a feeling it will be a while before we go to the zoo and not ride the train!

Gammie with her two grandsons.

Cade LOVED being outside. He was wide awake the entire time we were there and just the happiest thing. He even enjoyed the train ride.

I absolutely cannot believe that he will be one month old next week. It honestly breaks my heart! I feel like I just had him! I was telling my friend Angie that I'm going to blink and be planning his 1st birthday tomorrow and the next thing I know he'll be graduating college! Everyone told me that it goes by faster with the second, but somehow I was determined that wasn't going to happen to me. HA! Unfortunately, I haven't escaped it yet. Still holding onto the hope that time will slow down eventually! ;)
