1st day of school!!!

Well, my baby went to his first day of school today! I was nervous until the open house yesterday and then became excited. I knew he was going to have a great time and love the staff there. I made sure I had everything ready Sunday night, because I couldn't have him late on his first day!!

Of course, he didn't wear those shorts as you will see in the pictures below. Plus, his backpack and lunchbox have not come in yet, but I didn't allow myself to get stressed out about that :) One of the things I was a little worried about was his lunch. I made him a ham/cheese sandwich, and cut up strawberries and grapes. It bothered me that I didn't have some cheese or something for the 4th square, so I just put the sandwich in two of them.. ha. Can we say anal?! I'm so glad I got everything ready the night before, because he was like a little tornado this morning destroying EVERYTHING. I tried to pick it up, but I guess he just wanted to make sure I had something to do while he was gone!

Getting ready to go!

They all wear matching shirts the first day. His was huge, but I still thought it was so cute :) He was pretty proud of it, too. He kept pointing to it saying, "Shirt!".

When I first got in the room and put him down, he kind of hugged my leg at first. Until he saw the animals painted on the wall and hightailed it to point them all out. I put all of his stuff in his cubby..

while he found "his" spot in the room

I walked over there to ask him for a kiss bye. He gave me one and said "My my mama" (bye bye mama). HA! The other moms left at the same time and the kids started crying, so I poked my head in to make sure it wasn't upsetting him that they were crying. He was looking at them with this total look of confusion on his face. Like, why in the world are you crying?! We are here to play!!

I can't believe my baby is old enough to have his little name on the door of a classroom!

I had a few errands I needed to run, which made my day go a lot faster. I actually did REALLY well and didn't even shed a tear! It definitely helped when Chesley texted me an hour in to let me know he was having a blast!

When I picked him up, he was sitting by the basket of books again. He heard my voice and looked up and said "MAMA!" so sweet and excitedly, but never budged. I got his things, picked him up and he promptly told me "no" and "bop" and started to cry and want down! He was not ready to leave! When we got outside I asked him what he learned at school and he just let out the longest string of babble. It was one of those moments I'll never forget!

SO, as nervous as I was about being away from him, I'm glad we are doing it! Connor made it pretty obvious that he is too :)
