Hodge Podge

I've got a lot of random things swirling around and none of them are anywhere near enough important to hold their own blog post. So hodge podge, mish mash, whatever you want to call it, it is.

Cade's first birthday party is next weekend. Of course, I want to have it outside like I did Connor's but I'm not sure the weather is going to cooperate this time around. Oddly enough, I am at peace with that (as I totally was not with Connor's), so that is nice. I am having fun with all the decor so far. What's even better is I am going to get to keep it up in his room afterwards. Total win in my book. Here is one of the projects I have been working on
My BIL and SIL found a high chair at the flea market a while back and were gracious enough to let me borrow (AND paint it how I like) it for the party. I am also going to use it for his one year pics!

We cancelled our satellite service a couple of weeks ago. I immediately started watching Downton Abbey on a free Hulu Plus trial and for the first few days of watching the show I totally thought it was DowntoWn Abbey. I just thought they pronounced it funny!! This is where if it were someone else I would say something like, "Bless", so I suppose I should say it about myself here! Anyway, got caught up with the show within a week and I cannot believe I have to wait until next spring to see what happens. While in the throes of watching it, my husband texted me this.

Seriously. Could not love this man more!

Going back to canceling our TV service, has anyone else done that? We have these HIDEOUS rabbit ears in the house (how's that for some new home decor), but are definitely thinking we are going to be getting one to go outside to get a better signal. Now we just can't seem to decide which free streaming program to use. Hulu Plus is nice, but really all of the shows I would watch on there are the ones we will get for free. And on the rare occasion that I can't watch it when it is live, I can plug the computer into the TV and watch it on the networks website. Netflix is ok for movies and old TV shows, but not current ones. Amazon Instant video doesn't seem much better. We also have Apple TV and I hear people ranting and raving over it, but I must have missed something. Besides Hulu, Netflix and You Tube is there anything else you can do on it? So, if you have also joined the ranks of the cable/satellite-less, please share what you do!

I was thinking the other day that it would be so awesome if you got a free e-reader download of a book when you bought it (the actual hard copy, that is).  I am one that still enjoys holding the actual book in my hand when I am at home, but when I am out I would much prefer to have it on my phone. I'm sure there are a million reasons why this would never work, but all of those reasons are above my head at the time being.

Matt has started running with me. This makes me happier than he knows. We are training for a half marathon in October and although I think he will smoke me, I am excited to have the motivation to continue and just to be able to do this with him. So there you are hubster. It is on the internet, now. IT. IS. HAPPENING!

In addition to the running, I have started using the My Fitness Pal app to track my eating. Well, it has rocked my world! I turned down a cupcake yesterday merely because I didn't want to have to put it in and see how many calories it is. I don't even know who I am anymore! I don't have any friends on there yet, but am thinking as soon as I start feeling fickle about the whole thing I should start adding them. Nothing like someone seeing what you are eating to keep you motivated!

I also need to add in some kind of strength training. I did P90x -Ab Ripper X a couple of days ago. I didn't think I had done it right since I didn't feel anything the rest of that day or the next, but I can now feel it deep, deeep, deeeeeeeeeep under all of that little layer we shall call post pregnancy love. Since we have a gym membership, I really need to take advantage of it and get into some of those classes. Or have someone teach me the best way to use all of those machines!

I am loving this weather we have been having lately. We have had a lot of rainy days, but thankfully it has stayed somewhat warm. I have tried to take advantage of it and play outside as much as I can until it becomes so hot that you have to be in water kind of days. A few days ago we had a picnic and Connor was beyond pumped. He picked out our food and it was a sandwich, corn on the cob, broccoli,  carrots and applesauce. Seriously?! That kid loves veggies!
I had to add this next picture, because there are moments when both of the boys are crawling all over me and I just want to scream because I need some space. But for the most part, I hope I never forget how it feels to have your child love you so much they just have to always be touching you. He sat there almost the entire picnic with his little hand on my leg.

I'm sure I could come up with about 50 other little random things that have floated through this mom of two brain, but I'll spare you all of that excitement. Hope y'all have a great weekend!!!

Girl!! My Fitness Pal is awesome! It totally sucks, but really works. I did it after Meyer and tried it a couple of months ago, but nursing and dieting for me just doesn't work! Milk supply went downhill immediately so I had to quit, but I'll be back...in about 8 months. You can be my friend!

We got rid of our TV service after the twins were born and now we use Hulu Plus. Honestly I think that's how Mr. Howard and I have the time for so many at-home dates! We have to get creative! =)

New to your blog and a momma of two boys as well! That is awesome you and your husband are training together. I am pregnant with my 3rd (boy!) and we are thinking about training for the one in New Orleans in Feb to help me get back in shape!
