Daddy's home!

Matt left Friday morning for a camping trip and was gone all weekend and we are soooo glad that he is back home! He actually got back Sunday afternoon, but I just haven't had time to blog these past couple of days. Honestly, I was a little weary of being here all by myself with Connor just because he occasionally has those days where he wants nothing but to be held or for you by his side. I knew if he was like that all weekend I would go crazy trying to get things done around the house without Matt's help. It was actually, quite the opposite! Saturday he played by himself all day long. So much so that I started feeling guilty and sat down to play with him. He paid me no attention! He had a mission in mind and I was not to disturb him. He has really gotten into stacking/building lately and that is what he did all day. It was so cute to just sit and watch him.

Sunday morning we got up to get ready for church and since Matt wasn't here to play with Connor while I showered, I blocked off the hallway with his toys, shut the doors and let him play. I left the bathroom door open so that I could look out and see him if needed. All I could hear were his little feet running up and down the hallway. It was the cutest sound ever! I finally peeked out to watch him and as soon as I looked out I saw the back of him running to the other end of the hallway carrying an arm full of toys. Once again, he had a mission in mind! It is when he does things like this that I realize I am slowly losing my "baby".

This is what he did when I asked him if he was ready to go to church.

And then he fussed at me for not getting on with it already. :)

He did SO good in church. It is probably the best he has done since he was a wee little baby. He even sat in my lap watching the preacher at one point. It might or might not have to do with the fact that I brought a container full of yogurt melts. I think they are nasty, but he loves them. We spent the rest of the day lounging around because we got some much needed rain.

Yesterday was a busy day. After music class and lunch with April, we followed it up with a night at the ballpark to watch Matt play softball. I love watching him play sports (makes me really sad I didn't get to watch him in highschool) and I wanted to take Connor at least once. He had a blast! He walked around like he owned the place, with no regard for me or where I was. He even went up to strangers a few time with his arm up in the air contemplating throwing them the ball he was holding. I finally figured out that if I gave him the shovel I brought he could use it as a golf club of sorts and hit the ball around on the ground. After doing that for about 15 minutes I realized his knuckles were all red and bleeding. He had been scraping them on the concrete every time he hit and hadn't even made a peep to complain about it.

He also busted his lip a little earlier in the day, so it was a rough one for little man yesterday!

We didn't get home until 10 pm and Connor went strong until we turned on our street. When I got him out of the car he was snoring and still holding onto his ball.

I just knew he would sleep late this morning. He must have read my mind and decided to show me who was boss. He woke up ready to go at 5:45 am, so needless to say we are hanging out at home today letting him get as many naps as he can!
