10 months old?!?! (and advice!)

Today is bittersweet for me, as I'm sure every birthday is going to be from here on out! I absolutely CANNOT believe that in 2 mere months my baby is going to be a year old. He is growing up so fast and I am trying to do everything to soak it all in so that I don't miss a thing!

Connor, at 10 months you:

-weigh around 19 lbs or a little over.

-are still able to fit in most 6-9 month clothes, but 9-12 months fit too. You are still in a size 3 diaper and I'm pretty sure you will be for quite a while.

-have four teeth. Two on top and two on the bottom.

-are getting so much hair that it actually requires combing sometimes. And when we take any sort of hat off? Hilarious!

- are eating finger foods. You weren't a huge fan at first, but are slowly getting acclimated to the texture. Your absolute favorite is a grilled cheese. Yesterday you ate a whole grilled cheese sandwich AND quite a few bites of sweet potatoes! You still aren't sure about pasta yet, but are getting better.

-have started walking behind a walker. You will just look all around you when you are walking behind it. You can tell that you are recognizing everything from a different viewpoint.

-are ALL boy. You are so rough! You love balls and will say BAA really loud when you see a ball.

-are constantly saying mama. Sometimes you say it when you are headed to me (or when you are in your crib and want out!). Other times you just say it while playing. I don't think I could have imagined how much I would love to hear you say that.

-are 100% without a paci. I even tried to give it back to you when we were in Arkansas hoping it would help you sleep better. You spit it across the room! You wanted nothing to do with it!

-are now taking baths in the big bathtub. You love it and just squeal with utter delight when I start getting your bath things together.

-love to be without a diaper. As soon as I take your diaper off you will roll away from me faster than lightning to start playing. Your daddy and I just laugh and laugh at your dimply bottom :)

-are napping SO much better. It's actually a rare day when you don't take naps. And honestly, I never thought I'd say that! Sometimes when I lay you down I will just stare at you. It makes me want to just crawl in the bed with you and cuddle.

-love attention and know how to get it! You are very blessed with a lot of people who love to give it to you!

-are such a sweet boy. You make your daddy and I so unbelievably happy. We love you so so much Connor Matthew!

Now for some quick advice. I have started getting things ready for his 1st birthday and am having a hard time finding exactly what I want (story of my life). The two things I am struggling with the most are the party hat and the cupcake toppers (seems so trivial, but in my "i want/need everything to be perfect" head, it is sooo not!) . So here is what I need advice/help on:

1)Is there some sort of tutorial on how to make the party hats? OR do you know anyone that will make a customized one? I'm talking about the ones that have the puffy balls all around the bottom and one big one on top.

2) I am wanting cupcake toppers and once again am having a hard time finding what I have visualized in my head. I have enough Christmas money to buy a Cricut. Do y'all think it is worth it? Would I really use it for more than events like this? Would it even make cupcake toppers? OR does anyone know anybody that could make me some?

I think that is it for now. I'm sure I'll be back with some more questions in the weeks to come!

Kelli-

I have a Cricut machine, and LOVE it! I use it to scrapbook. I think it would make the toppers. Probably depends on what you are wanting. I could try making a few for you to see before you bought one. You can use a Cricut for all kinds of things. You can cut vinyl and things like you would buy from UpperCase Living.

I'm pretty sure you can make cupcake toppers with a Cricut. I also saw a scalloped cutter at Hobby Lobby that was only $4 that looks like most cupcake toppers I've seen. You could probably just get a variety of the cutters and make your own. But you would probably need the Cricut to make the letters or numbers.

Connor is so much like Addi it cracks me up!!!

Hey kelli,
you need to look at the little cottage in the factory for a birthday hat for conner. Look at the one Landry wore for his birthday either on my blog or on facebook and that's the style they normally have. I would call before you go in though b/c they run out of them frequently. Also-I have a cricut and i know they have applications you can buy for cake/cupcake decoration. have you checked on birthdayexpress.com. they have an entire section for only "1st birthday" party things just click on "1st wishes" tab at the top of the website.
Good luck! I know how it is to want everything perfect for his big day! I did the same thing last year I HAD to have a giraffe and the number "1" theme combined and i about drove myself crazy b/c I couldn't find giraffe stuff anywhere! What's funny now is that there is giraffe stuff everywhere! I know it's bitter sweet-good luck!

Kelli--I just got a cricut for Christmas and I'm in love! I think you can make just about anything. They are having great sales on them right now too. I know you like DIY crafting so I think you should go for it!
