Kitchen FAIL

I have mentioned before that we use E-MEALZ for our meal plans each week. They have a weight watchers option that works great for us. Well this week I noticed that one of the meals was to be cooked in the crock pot. I got excited, but I'm really not sure why. I have never been able to achieve anything that I'd be ok serving if guests were over. In fact, Matt's mom ate with us one night when I had a crock pot meal and I was horrified that she had to eat it. I haven't cooked for her since then and probably should so that she doesn't think I am feeding her son horribly bland food every night ;)

ANYWAY, tonight it was a pork chop, with a cup of italian diced tomatoes, a cup of white northern beans (drained and rinsed), 1/3 cup of onion soup mix and 2 tsp of dry red cooking wine. When I told Matt what the ingredients were he was not excited, to say the least. He even asked me if I was joking! I hadn't really thought about it until he mentioned it, but it did sound pretty gross. It wasn't as bad as the aforementioned meal, but it wasn't great. I know there has to be some good crock pot recipes out there (besides roast with vegetables.. Matt hates the potatoes and carrots), but I have yet to find them.

Since dinner was pretty much a disaster, I thought we could have fun making some Christmas shaped sugar cookies (using the awesome cookie cutter mom got me last year!!!). Well I'll just let the pictures do the talking:

What in the world?! How do you get your cookies to stay the shape they are supposed to? Goodness gracious. I just couldn't catch a break tonight.

Connor did great with no paci today. It was like he never even had it to begin with. It actually made me a little sad to look down while I was rocking him and see that sweet little mouth slightly parted instead of the paci. The paci represented baby to me and without it, it just makes him look that much more like a big boy. You know what else makes him seem like a big boy? The FITS he is throwing when he doesn't get his way. No one warned me of this at such a young age! He will arch his back and make this little (mad)squealing noise. I'm not really sure how to respond to it. I don't know if he will understand what I am talking about if I say "no". He definitely know what "no" means when he is doing something he shouldn't be physically (playing with plugs, etc), but how do you deal with behavior? I joked with him today and told him that if did it again I was going to put him in a 45 second time out ;) (If you watch Supernanny at all, you will understand) I know my mom is just laughing away right now knowing that it has just begun for me! ha.

Did anyone else get snow today? I can't believe it has "snowed" two days in a row! Today it even started to accumlate on the things outside. I just love looking outside and seeing it. So pretty! But after going outside to try to take a picture, I definitely prefer being inside looking out! 29 degree weather and I don't go well together!

I hope everyone had a great Monday and stayed warm!!!

How fun is it that y'all get snow! and on the cookie front.... Try using a recipe that you have to chill the dough and roll out before baking. That always works for me;)

I would advise tossing both of those recipes out! haha. We need to get you and the crock pot back on better terms- I have a book of recipes I will send your way!! You will be friends in no time!

I can't wait to see how timeouts really work when you start implementing them. hahaha.

1 can jellied cranberry sauce
1 packet of onion soup mix
1 pot roast.

Crock pot high 4 hours or low for 6... trust me. We love! And no veggies.

I can't get a good sugar cookie to hold it's shape for NOTHING!!! I don't know how people do it, but I get so frustrated because they always spread and look deformed. :(

My go to crock pot recipe:

chicken breasts (2-3)
1 stick of cream cheese
1/2 stick of butter
1 pkg. italian dressing seasoning
-cook on low for 2-3 hours.

It is super yum and you could use fat free cream cheese too!

How is it that there were ALL these comments and no one mentioned the most important thing about this blog...the PRECIOUS elf! I just want to squeeze him!!!

And I bet those fits are just adorable! No need to get all excited Mommy...words only a Grandma would say :)

If you want advice about that behavior, talk to my mother. I used to throw such fits that when she was holding me, I'd arch back until my head hit her thigh, and she would have to clutch my legs so I wouldn't fall. I was a terror...good luck with those fits! ;)
