Christmas apron!!!

Every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas Nana (Matt's grandma) works so hard in the kitchen cooking for around 19 to 20 people. I don't know how she does it! And honestly, we could probably bring 50 people and STILL have leftovers! I always tell myself I am going to take a picture of everything, but as soon as she puts that last dish on the counter the men are already standing in line to get their first, of at least two, plates. I can only imagine the looks I would get if I asked them to back away so I could take a picture. I don't think that would go over very well! SOOOO, since she works so hard each year to help us add a few more inches to our waistline with her incredible food I wanted her to be the first person I "make" something for!

I didn't quite have it finished by the time I got there, so I had to work on it a little. I know she knew I was up to something, but I don't know if she knew what it was. Thankfully Libby (brother in law's (Kyle) girlfriend. Is it appropriate to do parentheses inside of a parenthese? Oh, well. This is my blog!!) was there to help me on the finishing touches. I think I gave her the hardest part.... sorry Libby!!! She also had her camera with her and took some pictures for me.

almost done!

Matt checking on the status or just trying to get inside? I'm guessing the latter ;)

Oh me. I hope I am holding it a little crooked. Otherwise that box is crooked! ha! What you can't see is that the green box says Merry Christmas. I wanted to make it pretty, so I traced it in Scriptina font (how many people know of the Scriptina font? My fav. No contest) right onto the fabric and then stitched it. Matt was so cute. He kept telling everyone that I stitched that in the car. I love that he has that much naivete about my creative ability! I bought some pretty napkins to sew the reindeer on for myself (and whoever else I decide to gift them to!). I didn't have any pretty Christmas dish towels, so I figured I'd just make my own. We'll see how they turn out!

And on a completely random note, I need some advice from some other momma's out there. Connor has never been one to want his paci unless he was sleeping or in his carseat. The past couple of days he hasn't wanted it in the car. Or he will take it and spit it right back out.
Well today he hasn't taken it at all. I put it in his mouth at church and he spit it out and still fell asleep (two miracles in one there). Then when I was rocking him for his nap this afternoon, he spit it out the second I put it in and, again, still went to sleep! I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and take it away??? I realize this is only one day and I might be waving my "FIRST TIME MOMMY" flag pretty high with this question, but I would do anything not to have to go through the process of getting rid of it when he still really wants it. So, what do y'all think?!?!

If a note from MiMi is acceptable, I say not give it to him for a few days. The sooner he learns to sooth himself the better...now that is my "reasonable" answer.

However, when I am THERE and he is crying, I would probably say "give that baby his paci".

Oh the joys of being a grandmother, you don't have to really sweat the "what's best for the child" mode you can cave it with NO REMORSE.

Oh I meant to say the apron is just precious. I know Nanaw loved it. You are right about the food, you really have to take a picture next year. I had the joy of being there one Christmas and you'd have sworn Martha Stewart did the cooking. Not only did it taste great...everything was so PRETTY.

Madelyn started spitting hers out at around 4 months so I just took it from her and never looked back. From what I hear, it's a lot easier to break them of it when they are younger than when they are older. Good luck!

Yeah it might be easier to just go ahead and wean him now as to avoid it later on. That apron is so cute!!!
