On Sunday it had been one week and a day since Connor had pooped. I had tried everything I could think of. The bicycle, extra tummy time, rocked him on my knees, made up a poopy dance and even resorted to a suppository. Nothing worked. Finally I called our pediatrician and they told me to try 4 oz of apple juice 2 times a day. I wasn't too excited about it because I just knew it would cut back on his nursing time. 8 extra oz of fluid is a lot! I wasn't excited about the sugar intake either. Well, I didn't have to worry about it because he hated it! I tried it in a sippy cup, and cup with no lid (he is always wanting my cups!), and a bottle.
Nada. He wanted nothing to do with it.
He never cried. Just made this awful face!
The only problem with that was that I was back to square one with the poopy issues. I called back and they told me to pump and put 2 tsp of dark Karo syrup in his bottle twice a day until he pooped and then 1 tsp twice a day until he became regular.
Finally on Sunday he exploded! Then again on Monday! I cheered for him and was SO excited! He was proud of himself as well, giving me a big smile the whole time I was changing his diaper. Who knew one day I would look forward to the poopy diapers?!
We have to go to the eye doctor tomorrow. At his 4 month check up the Dr noticed that he might have a bit of a lazy eye. My prayer is that we go in there and he says that it will correct itself. Either that or it can be corrected with a patch. I just don't want him to have to wear glasses or have surgery. Please pray it is nothing serious. I'll keep you updated!
