Chalk another one up for me

Last Thursday was my birthday. The big 2-6. Connor gave me a run for my money that day. We were in day 2 of crying it out for his naps and it was awful. I'm just not sure he is going to be a child that learns from it. He cried the entire 1 1/2 hrs, which of course meant that he didn't sleep for more than 30 minutes. It's not like I can just leave him in there because he eats at the end of that naptime (which you know he falls asleep as SOON as he starts eating and leads to him being hungry again in 1 hr.. haha). So I haven't decided what I am going to do from here on out. Anyway, back to my birthday. I decided that I wanted to run by Ann Taylor outlet to check out their memorial day sales. On the way I thought I heard Connor have a mini explosion in his diaper, but wasn't sure. Then I smelled it. I figured it couldn't have been that bad since it wasn't that loud, so I proceeded to stop by Sonic before going to the outlet mall. While waiting on my drink I decided to check out the damage. This is what I found:

Happy Birthday to me! After 45 minutes spent in the bathroom trying to clean out his carseat and get him wiped off (I came thisclose to just putting him under the sink.. haha) we headed to Gymboree to buy him a new outfit.

I can't tell you the number of funny looks I got from people! He happened to love it. He actually got fussy again when I put clothes back on him (oh, did I mention the poop got on his paci? I was without the paci. it wasn't pretty) So I gave up and went home and put that little stinker to bed! He was SO tired!

The next morning he woke me up at 5:30 and I fed him until about 6:10. I got back in bed and my back was kind of hurting and felt like it needed to be popped. I popped it, but a really dull pain started to set in. My first thought was that I was about to start my period, but 40 minutes later when I was lying on the bathroom floor writhing in pain I knew I was either a) about to give birth to another child that I didn't know existed or b) had kidney stones. Luckily (or unfortunately???) I had experienced kidney stones before so I knew what was going on. I started off thinking I just needed to go to the doctor, but around 7:30 knew I needed to go to the ER. Y'all. It was about 10 times worse than labor. No lie. The pain did not let up even a little bit until they shot morphine into my arm (which was 2 1/2 hrs after the pain started. ouch.) The doctor said that since this was my second episode in 5 years that more than likely I was just prone to getting them. Yuck. Usually people get them from caffeine and I haven't had any in almost a year! Well, besides chocolate but not even kidney stones can make me give up chocolate! The worst part about all of this was that I couldn't feed Connor and didn't have enough supply to last until I could feed him again. We had to give him formula for a day and he hated it! He would literally spit it back out and we tried two different kinds. He and I were both relieved when he could nurse again!

Friday night we went to Olive Garden. I was a little weak from the morning, but I knew pasta and the fabulous cake they give you for your birthday would make it all better :). I am going to go out on a limb and say it is the best meal I have ever had there. I wish I would have taken a picture, because there isn't one on their website. It was Shrimp & Crab Tortelli di Venezia, which is shrimp and crab filled ravioli, sauteed shrimp and sun dried tomatoes in a creamy seafood sauce with a hint of sweet tarragon. It was DELISH!

Matt got me a beautiful bracelet that I will cherish forever. He did some research online and found a place in Nasvhille to make it himself. The image of him picking out the beads and stringing it himself makes my heart soar. I love my husband and I love knowing that he loves me :) It was so sweet how shy he was giving it to me. He was a little worried I wouldn't like it because he didn't get any help from anyone, but what he doesn't understand is that makes me love it even more!

So even though it sounds like I had a crazy 26th birthday, I wouldn't have had it any other way. If I didn't have poop to clean out of a carseat, then that means I wouldn't have that sweet little chunk of love. Now, I might have been ok without the kidney stones... ;)

I've been there with the poop. I've learned if it sounds like there has been an explosion, there has been one. We were coming back from Texarkana one time and Addi had a blowout like that and we were an hour from home with no diapers. :( It was awful! I'm glad your feeling better, the kidney stones sound awful!

Oh and I gave you a blog award! :)

Girl! What a birthday hah! First, I know how frustrating that is to try and clean up a mess like that one! Second, I'm so sorry that you had kidney stones! And lastly, that meal sounds amazing! I'm going to have to test it out :) I hope that you have a good week, girl!

PS...LOVE that pic of him in the carseat without clothes!

Kids will ALWAYS have blowouts or leaks at the worst times....like when you have taken the time to get ready, load up and drive all the way across town to the outlet mall to do something for yourself;)
