Vegetables, anyone?

I am so stinkin proud of our garden this year! I feel like it grew out of nowhere. I absolutely LOVE having it and can't imagine not ever having one. I am so excited to pass this on to my kids. Just add that to my tradition list :) Each year we will plant the garden as a family... I probably would have hated me as a teenager! Mom? Dad? Can you back that up? hehe.. isn't it funny how things change! This picture was taken mid April BEFORE the monsoon otherwise known as May came around

Late MayThe onions are right in front of you, the corn is to your left, okra behind it, tomatoes in the middle, cucumbers on right front, zuchinni in the middle of the right row and yellow squash behind it.

Another view. It is even bigger now. The squash and zuchinni are pretty much touching the tomato plants now. The corn is also much much higher than the fence. The okra is about mid-calf now as well.

I pretty much had to crawl under the plants to get these. They were hidden, so I didn't see them until it was a little too late.. haha (Notice the corn behind me. This picture was taken yesterday. ) Also note how I am waist deep in zuchinni!
As I'm sure you can tell we have squash coming out of our ears! We did fried squash and green tomatoes tonight, but I can't keep doing that or I will gain a millions pounds! I LOVE THEM! So, if you have a good squash recipe, bring it on!
For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations. Isaiah 61:11

Carrie told me about your garden pictures. It looks so good! I am a fried squash girl myself. We eat it now off the grill with a little house seasoning (Paula's). Moma and I talked about you last week when she made a strawberry cake. Barbara Roberts

Okay, I didn't even know you had a blog, so I'm happy to discover that. :-) I'm super-impressed that your garden looks that awesome with no weeding! Black plastic gardens aren't as pretty as regular ones, that's for sure (but it's so much easier!). As far as animals go, we pretty much just gave in and quit planting the stuff they wanted. Raccorns (at least that's what I assume it was) always got our corn, cantaloupes, and watermelons, so we don't even try those anymore. They usually leave the rest of our stuff alone.

The garden looks awesome Kelli! Yall have done a great job. I told Cole (when we were on our honeymoon) that I wanted a garden one day. Not many people have one at our age, so you're my inspiration!
