4th of July weekend

I know, I know. It's been 10 days since the 4th of July. BUT we had a great weekend and I don't want to not post about it. This is the only way I write down all of our memories (insert me begging and pleading with blogger to not ever ever somehow delete my posts) Matt's mom and her husband were going out of town for the weekend, so they asked us to dog sit for them. We always do it because it is so easy staying at her house with Connor. He has his own room and she has everything he needs..plus I always feel like I'm on vacation when I'm there.

I'm sure Connor feels that way too because there is about 4 times the open space to play in! Friday morning he decided to do a little shopping and it looks like a ball was one of his purchases :)

But then midway through his shopping trip the buggy broke, so he had to fix it. It's unfortunate that he didn't think to fix his hair before he left! ;)
BUT, his FAV-O-RITE things at Gammie's house are her puppies. I bet he patted them 500 times that weekend. He would always let them know he was going to do it with his arm straight up in the air and saying "pat, pat". Bogey has learned to just go ahead and take a seat and let him do it! Birdie, on the other hand, doesn't appreciate it that much.

He is very good about patting on their back. I wouldn't say it is the most gentle pat, but it is probably the most gentle he can be right now.

He will usually pat on one side and then have to walk around to the other side to pat.

I'm just so glad he is so good with them! (and vice versa! ha)

Saturday afternoon the Stiles came over to swim and grill out. Layla is getting so big and if it's even possible, cuter. She was so sweet to Connor just loving on him. I think she is preparing for her baby brother or sister coming!

This picture just makes me happy. I love those two!

Once we got to the pool and Layla was showing off her swimming skills, she asked me to take a picture :)

Connor, on the other hand, did not want to participate for the picture. He was too concerned with where Layla was and what she was doing.

On the way home I looked back and saw that they were holding hands :) Such sweet friends!

While the boys grilled, we threw the kiddos in the bath to get all of the sunscreen off.

Connor had never been in the bath with someone before and he must have been having a good time, because he quickly told me "no" when I asked him if he was ready to get out!

One of mine and Matt's favorite things to get when we are in Brentwood is Jet's pizza. Connor didn't use to like pizza, but that has definitely changed! I mentioned earlier that I feel like I am on vacation when we are at Pam's house. One of the main reasons is the balcony. It's so simple, but I love everything about it! We ate out there every night. It's covered AND has fans so that you have a nice breeze. Sunday night we played a little Scrabble while watching School of Rock.

Kyle making sure the word someone played was actually a word :)
I never ever beat Matt in Scrabble, which is ridiculous because I am the big reader. Well this weekend was different. I DOMINATED him in all 4 games we played over the weekend. Victory. It felt so good ;)

We didn't watch any fireworks on Monday and, in fact, had a pretty lazy day. All in all, it was a great holiday weekend!
