Can you pass me my walker, please?

My friend, Chesley, had been trying to talk me into doing boot camp for a couple of weeks and I finally bit the bullet and went with her this past Saturday. I was feeling pretty confident in my strength when I still wasn't sore that afternoon. Theeen I woke up Sunday morning. And overnight my calves and chest muscles had been filled with lead. By Sunday night, I was almost in hysterics (laughing, not crying) I was so sore. At one point I tried to stand up from sitting on the ground and almost fell back down! Let's not even go into detail about how it hurt to do a scrubbing motion while washing the dishes. Not to mention hoisting a 20 1/2 lb baby around. Then I wake up Monday morning and pretty much have to shuffle around because it hurts my calves to walk normally. Needless to say, I'm hooked! I do think I am going to wait until I can walk normally before I go back, though!

We had another nice, relaxing weekend at home. On a whim, I put Cade in the bathtub with Connor without putting him in any sort of baby tub. I'm pretty sure my heart exploded because of the cuteness.

As you can see in the bottom two pictures, they are really good at taking toys away from each other. This is something that I know is only going to get worse!

Saturday morning Connor woke up and only had one sticker left to fill up his chart. After cleaning up his toys, he got to put that last sticker on. He got SO excited!

Of course, rookie mom here didn't even think about the fact that most jump places would be "closed" to the public for birthday parties. Thankfully, my sweet boy was ok with it. That and Rowen stopped by and that distracted him. They had so much fun. Connor was running around like normal and Rowen was just dying laughing at him. Connor ate that up, as usual. I had never heard Rowen laugh so hard, so I was loving it, too!

I really wish I would have taken a video of him talking. He talks a million miles a minute in his own little language and it might be the cutest thing I've ever seen! You can just tell he is taking everything in and then telling you about it! He is going to be one smart... and talkative.. little boy!

That night, Matt and I had our date night for the week. It was his turn to pick it out. He wanted to make a dessert and play Mario Kart. I joked with him that he must like to lose, since he has never beaten me.

Therefore, I decided to let him win... ALL of them. ;) Ugh. He made sure to take a picture of it to redeem himself from the loss of Scrabble. I told him I would MUCH rather win a game that you actually have to use your brain!

To redeem ourselves from the jump place mishap, Matt took Connor to play golf with him on Sunday. He had a BLAST! I'm so glad that they have something like that that they will be able to do together forever! I also think it's pretty special that Matt will take him on something that is very important to him. Because we all know that nothing is as relaxing with a toddler in tow! So proud my boys have him as their daddy!!!

Hope y'all had a good weekend!

Dreams

I wasn't one of those girls that dreamed of having kids and becoming a mommy. From what I'm told, I didn't have to. I became one at 4 when my little brother was born. I kid, I kid. Well, kind of.

One thing I remember so vividly about growing up was making tents. We had a pretty small family room where we watched TV, which meant that we could drape sheets across all the furniture in that room and have a pretty big tent. That was one of the things I couldn't wait to do when we found out we were pregnant with Connor. We had made a small tent for him before, but never one that included a TV.

The first thing I realized while making it is.. we need some more sheets! Thankfully, he didn't notice and was thrilled!

I told him we could watch a movie and eat breakfast in there, but I needed to go change Cade's diaper first. He said, "Mommy, wait one more second to change Cade's diaper. Let me show you what movie first." The "one more second" and "first" part is his new thing right now. It cracks me up. And, yes, he is kind of bossy.

Today was the perfect day to do this. It has been pretty dreary here this week, which never helps with my mood. We have also been suffering from PSTD from the end of daylight savings time. Seriously, who knew that one little hour could mess someone up so badly?! Connor has adjusted. Cade, on the other hand, has not. I'm talking screaming during his naps, waking up before 6 am. He is napping right now, so *fingers crossed* we will continue to have a good day! (update: Yeah, not happening. He's been in there for less than an hr and is already up and screaming. It's all about that ebb and flow, huh?!)

After eating breakfast, in which Connor refused a Toaster Strudel saying it was "yucky" (seriously, he amazes me refusing all the good stuff like that), we continued to watch Lion King and enjoy our tent. Of course, my favorite part was seeing this sweet smile on his face, but a close second was how tight the space was in there. Because you know what that means? It means I had Cade on my chest with Connor's little body curled into mine and his head on my shoulder.

There are some things in life that are just too good to be able to dream them. They are things that, until experiencing, our little human brains are not fully able to comprehend. It's just taking the time to slow down so you can experience them.

It's usually in those small moments, even ones inside of a tent made out of sheets and blankets, that they happen. And for that, I am thankful.

First bath together!

I have a little secret. Or maybe it's not a secret, but I thought it was! When we decided to start trying for baby #2, I already had dreams of it being another boy. Don't get me wrong, I don't think that opposite sex siblings are bad... I have two and can't imagine not having my brothers in my life! But I also see Matt's relationship with his brothers and I wanted that for Connor, too. So, as soon as the ultrasound tech put that wand on my belly and we figured out it was a boy, the dreams began.

Since that day so many of those dreams have come true. One of those was taking baths together.

I know it will only get better when Cade is able to sit up on his own, but it is still sweet to see them interacting as much as they can now.

It's like they know. They know that they have a special bond. From the moment we pulled up to the house from the hospital, Connor has taken on his big brother role like he had been doing it his whole life.  If he spits "out", he runs to grab a burp cloth to clean it up. If he is fussy, he will run to find him a toy. He is the first person he asks for when he wakes up and gives him more kisses than Matt and I combined.

And Cade? Well, he is definitely the adoring little brother. If you want to see Cade smile, have Connor talk to him. If you want to hear Cade laugh, have Connor kiss him on his belly. If Connor is anywhere in sight, Cade wants to be doing what he is doing.

I am so happy that they have each other and my prayer is that they will always be best friends! Of course, I couldn't have a "first" and not video tape it, so here you go :)
